Why should you read Where She Went?
The first reason why I would recommend Where She Went is that Gayle Forman
is a very descriptive writer. She uses a lot of metaphors to describe
emotions and events in the story such as; "Letting go. Everyone talks
about it like it's the easiest thing. Unfurl your fingers one by one until your
hand is open" (Gayle Forman 189). In this quote she is comparing letting
go of someone to letting go to something that you hold in your hand. The
metaphors used in Where She Went
help the reader to imagine what the characters are thinking. Forman also uses
imagery to describe settings and events in the book. Overall, the book uses a
lot of literary elements to enhance the story and describe emotions, events and
scenes in the book, making it an intriguing book to read.
Another reason why I would recommend this book is because it has relatable characters. Mia Hall and Adam Wilde, though they seem like music stars, have feelings and face struggles that many people face. Anyone who has lost someone important to them or has had to move away from someone they love can connect to Adam and Mia. When Mia says, "I needed someone to hate, and you're the one I love the most, so it fell on you" (Forman 231), it shows that Mia feels the same emotions as anyone else. Adam is also a relatable character because even though he is a rock star, he still has raw feelings and emotions of anger and loneliness that you can relate to. In conclusion, Where She Went is a great book with characters
that anyone can relate to.
